これまでの仕事を振り返ると、様々な事物を「配置する」という作業に多くの時間を費やししている。それは私にとって創造的で重要な工程である。
配置することで生まれるのは魅力である。その関係性を知ることは、追求となり可能性へと繋がる。
例えば無関係なもの同士を並べると不揃いには感じるが、同時に抽象性が生まれる。それは次世代の美術が求めてきたものと重なり、無限の可能性へと導く姿と言える。関係性に疑問を持つことが私たちを次の世界へと連れて行ってくれる。私たちは無関係なもの同士の配置の中で生まれ、疑問を持ち、並べ直しながら生きている。それを問い続けることは日常を豊かにし、自らの未来を創造するという行為ではないだろうか。
魅力を感じ配置した集合体を描き残すことは、また誰かが疑問を感じ並べ直すかもしれないという期待を込めての作業であり、作品である。
作中で組み合わせた様々なパーツは、歴史や自国の問題、パロディからほんの日常の中での流行までと幅広く、いかにあらゆるものの配置の末に現在が形成されているかを表す。
どういったプロセスの後に未来へと配置されていくのかを、想像し議論し合うための形を作り飾り物だけではない日本の絵画の形を目指す。
Looking back on my past work, I have spent a lot of time “arranging” various things. It is a creative and important process for me.
It is the fascination that is created by the placement. Knowing the relationship between them is a pursuit that leads to possibilities.
For example, when unrelated objects are placed side by side, they seem unequal, but at the same time, an abstraction is created. This overlaps with what the next generation of art has been seeking, and it is a form that leads to infinite possibilities. Questioning relationships takes us to the next world. We are born in an arrangement of unrelated things, and we live our lives questioning and rearranging them. Continuously questioning this is an act of enriching our daily lives and creating our own future.
To leave behind the assemblages that we have found fascinating and arranged is to work with the expectation that someone may question and rearrange them again, and it is a work of art.
The various parts that are combined in the work range from history, the problems of one’s own country, and parody to just everyday fads, showing how the present is formed at the end of the process of arranging everything.
The artist aims to create a form of Japanese painting that is not only decorative, but also a form for imagining and discussing how things will be arranged in the future after the process.
