We are pleased to announce the solo exhibition “Drawings on the Table” by Jyun Inoue.

This marks his first solo exhibition in Aichi, and his first in nine years since his solo show in Osaka in 2016.

The exhibition will present around 20 works, ranging from large-scale pieces to image drawings.

Different from his usual presentations, this special exhibition is organized entirely by the artist himself, offering a rare opportunity to glimpse the origin of his creativity.

Artist’s Statement

“Drawings on the Table” — the “table” here is not a desk, but a dining table.

It is not the desk on which strategies are devised, but rather the table where meals are shared.

To think and draw on the dining table suggests peacefulness, and reflects both the freedom of an artist living today and the openness of our times.

　My work begins by intuitively combining numerous drawings scattered across the table.

These may include sentences or scribbles, both old and new, which I continue to arrange and re-arrange for many days. Then, one day, a form emerges that satisfies me. At times, I feel that the table during this working process is just as compelling as the completed artwork itself.”
