Artist Statement
When I view the ever-changing “process” that is the subject of my work as a narrative, the part that is easiest to depict on the single plane of a painting may be the “climax,” the peak of the story. However, what I focus on is the “development” that precedes the climax in the structure of the story. I depict the sense of anticipation and the signs that dwell there.

For my first solo exhibition at art gallery Komori, I will present works mainly from the series I have been developing in recent years, under the title “Previously on…,” as a form of self-introduction.

Artist Biography
Born in Nagano Prefecture in 1977. Completed the research program in the Western Painting Course at Kyoto University of Art Junior College.

He creates paintings that capture the contours of the ever-shifting processes of objects and the emotions that accompany them, sealing these impressions onto the canvas. In addition to presenting works in solo exhibitions, he has exhibited large-scale works in museum exhibitions at the “Shinseisaku Exhibition” since 2001, and has also held exhibitions at temples, Western-style houses, and other cultural sites.

His awards include the Excellence Award at the Ueno Royal Museum Grand Prize Exhibition (2005), the Kyoto Exhibition Award (2007), the New Artist Award at the Shinseisaku Exhibition (2012–2014), and the Excellence Award at ART OLYMPIA 2019 in Tokyo (2019).
